Out of Time
The city skyline glowed under the moon as Elena leaned against the railing. Below, the streets pulsed with life, oblivious to the decision she’d been forced to make.
Leo lit a cigarette, the plume of smoke disappearing into the atmosphere. “What’s it gonna be?”
Elena’s gaze slid over to his slim form in a stylish trench. “I’ll leave tonight.”
Leo's eyes combed her features for emotion that would not surface. “There's no coming back here if you leave. You know that, right?”
She nodded, a steely resolve cutting through the shine in her eyes. “That’s the point.”
